Emergency Care
Saint Peter's University Hospital's Emergency Department is one of the largest and
most modern in central New Jersey. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
by a highly trained team of physicians and emergency professionals who are board
certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine.
Recognizing that time is essential in an emergency, the entire staff at Saint Peter’s
Emergency Department is dedicated to treating patients as quickly as possible. For
example, we are committed to treating heart attack patients within 90 minutes of
the time they enter the emergency room. We also offer
emergency angioplasty, a lifesaving procedure that may help heart attack
patients experience less heart muscle damage, faster recovery time and improved
quality of life.
Specialized treatment areas include:
- A fast-track room where adults with minor injuries are treated and released
- A fully equipped trauma room
- Isolation rooms for patients with infectious diseases
- A hazardous materials decontamination room
- Private rooms for OB/GYN
- Private rooms for casting broken bones
- A large acute-care area for more serious injuries and illnesses
- An observation area with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment
Pediatric Emergency Department
Our designation as a Children’s Hospital also means that we are one of New Jersey's
few hospitals with a
pediatric emergency department, where our specially trained staff stabilizes
and treats all pediatric emergency patients.
